We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant (Grade 10) to join the Finance team on a permanent basis.
Team Overview:
The Elexon finance team reside within the Finance & Commercial department which provides professional support services to Elexon including Internal Audit, Supply Chain Management and Finance. Overall, the Finance & Commercial department ensure Elexon drives cost efficiencies and that the company conducts its operations in a secure and controlled manner.
The finance team is responsible for both financial accounting and management reporting for Elexon. Financial accounting includes cash management for its operations as well as the production of statutory accounts for Elexon Group and its subsidiaries. The management reporting function includes timely coordination of the company’s annual budget and 3 year business plan, monthly cost reporting and financial analyses.
Job Purpose:
Reporting directly to the Senior Finance Business Partner, the Senior Management Accountant will support the management reporting function for Elexon. The purpose of the role is ensure integrity and timely production of a suite of management reports for Elexon Group and its subsidiary entities. Support the budgeting process and monitor performance against this. Analyse financial data and provide support to the business and assist in making informed business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising and mentoring the Assistant Management Accountant.
- Month End – Responsibility of Month End close for assigned directorates, Programmes and Subsidiaries.
- Assisting in preparation of consolidated reports for Board Packs
- Conducting FP&A – Monthly P&L/Cost/KPI/variance analysis and other ad hoc analysis where required.
- Regular meetings with cost centre managers, project managers and directors reporting on financial performance on assigned directorates.
- Maintaining Account Reconciliation’s (Accrual, Prepayment, Deferred & Accrued income)
- Manage and maintain the fixed asset register and policy
- Support the annual budgeting and business plan process by collaborating with cost centre managers and directors in developing their budgets and compiling budget assumptions and rolling forecasts
- Maintaining finance systems as and when required within the reporting function
- Assist during the audit and year-end processes, liaising with external auditors where necessary
Capabilities and competencies:
Critical:
- Experience in budgeting and forecasting
- Project Accounting
- Experience in management reporting systems and processes
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with senior level managers
- Studying towards ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications
- Excellent MS Office (Specifically Excel & Word) Excel skills including VLOOKUP, Pivot Table and advanced formulas
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Be able to positivity influence stakeholders within the business
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
Developmental/ Desirable:
- ACA/ACCA/CIMA – Part Qualified
- Familiar with Elexon’s strategy, its stakeholders and its overall role in the electricity industry
- Line/matrix management experience
- Knowledge of the BSC
